Washington needs a dog park!

by  Swamp Pundit

Okay, enough hooplah. No more hemming and hawing. Jimmy Davis? You do not get to choose for us. Your fear of drug-dealing, jackbooted thugs accompanied by spike-collared pit bulls lugging twenty pound chainsĀ  wreaking havoc upon the city’s chihuahuas is ill-founded and ridiculous. About as silly a notion as thinking someone living in town would allow a teenager to ride an ATV in their sideyard — without a helmet — while talking on a cell phone. (oh wait, people do that)

I do not play softball. I do not play basketball. I do not work out at the Senior Citizen Center. But — that doesn’t mean no one gets to play softball, basketball, or do squats with seniors.

For those Washingtonians who decry dog parks… here is how to handle the issue:

Don’t go to the dog park.

Now, isn’t that simple? And yes, we who use the dog park will clean it up.

Come on, City Council. Give us the damn dog park… don’t send it to Chocowinity. Please?

  • Something progessive is happening soon in this little town! Look for the fencing going up in August for our dog park! Thanks ya’ll for the support and the positive writings! It will be a great place to socialize the people too!

We’re hoping there are a lot of “you” out there. My response to the negative comments, the questions by nay-sayers? “Why not have a dog park? What’s it to you? If you don’t like it, don’t go there.” Sort of like – I don’t go to Turkey Shoots hosted by local volunteer fire depts, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have them. Geesh. Life could be so simple, couldn’t it?

We are seasonal residents of Washington and previously Chocowinity. My vote is for Washington location. Donations, maintenance and overseeing will be done in larger numbers by Washingtonians in my opinion. We GAVE! :)
